HydraFacial Medical Device
Somewhere in the world a HydraFacial is performed every 15 seconds. Dr Baines and his team are excited to announce that it is a treatment that they are now offering at the Crescent Clinic in Taunton.
What is HydraFacial?
HydraFacial is a medical grade hydradermabrasion device that delivers a multi-stage treatment to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate the face to reveal beautifully radiant skin.
The handheld device uses water as the exfoliating medium via four different HydroPeel tips to resurface the top layer of the skin and remove dead skin cells and impurities. It is gentler on acne prone and sensitive skin than traditional microdermabrasion. The skin is infused with a variety of highly effective serums tailored to your specific skin needs.
Your HydraFacial experience can be customised according to your skin type or skin condition by incorporating add-ons or boosters to address any specific skin concerns.
What can it treat?
HydraFacial is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It can help improve the appearance of the following skin concerns:
✓ Fine lines and wrinkles
✓ Skin firmness and lack of elasticity
✓ Skin texture
✓ Pore congestion, enlarged pores and oily skin
✓ Dull skin
✓ Acne
✓ Hyperpigmentation, brown spots, uneven skin tone
✓ Rosacea
This unique treatment is customisable. Your clinician will analyse your skin type and assess your specific skin concerns, then devise a personalised treatment that is tailored just for you.
How it Works
The HydraFacial experience comprises 4 basic steps
Step 1: Cleansing/Exfoliation
The Clinician will remove all make up. Next the vacuum based abrasion deplaning tool is used to remove the dead skin cells and reveal healthy new ones. This also helps to open up the pores of the skin. A serum is delivered to the new skin containing ingredients such as lactic acid, glucosamine, antioxidants and botanical extracts to revitalise and rejuvenate your skin, based on your individual needs.
Step 2: Peel
A mixture of Glycolic and Salicylic Acid is applied which softens and loosens the impurities in the pores ready for extraction. The nutrient rich solution penetrates deep into the pores and hydrates and purifies the skin, leaving the skin feeling soft and clean.
Step 3: Extraction
The Vortex Extraction nozzle circulates liquid rapidly on the skin which creates a highly effective vacuum. This sucks up impurities such as sebum, blackheads, whiteheads and clogged pores. Salicylic acid helps to draw out the impurities and honey extract helps to calm and soothe the extraction sites.
Step 4: Hydration/Vortex Fusion
Once your pores are clear and the dead skin cells are removed, the skin is treated with a special hydrating infusion of peptides, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. This promotes elasticity and reduces the appearance of uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, oiliness, fine lines and wrinkles. Your skin is left soft, nourished and plumped with moisture, combating the appearance of fine lines.
What can I expect during the treatment?
The procedure, which is completely non-invasive and usually takes around 30-60 minutes depending on your individual treatment and needs. The treatment is entirely painless and many people find it relaxing. The suction and movement of the device boosts lymphatic drainage and improves circulation in the skin.
What sets the HydraFacial treatment apart is the immediacy you can expect from its results. Your skin will feel super hydrated, smoother and softer. Puffiness will appear reduced due to the effect on the lymphatic drainage. Fine lines and wrinkles appear noticeably plumped because of the nutrient rich serums.
HydraFacial Specific Treatment Options
The following options can be selected as part of the Hydrafacial experience:-
Mechanical lymphatic drainage at the start of your facial, to help improve lymphatic circulation, increases blood flow, reduces puffiness and eliminates toxins. Supported by fresh lymph, the skin is hydrated and tone and firmness appear improved.
LED treatment post treatment using either red or blue light – red light stimulates turnover of new cell production, reduces redness and soothes the skin while blue light assists in killing bacteria (which can be helpful for acne sufferers).
Dermabuilder - a peptide complex to help smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles whilst increasing skin firmness and enhancing skin elasticity.
Britenol Intensive Spot Corrector – to minimise the appearance of brown spots.
“Perk” treatments which target the eye and/or lip areas.
A ZO Brightalive Serum Booster – to reduce the appearance of brown spots, help prevent new pigmentation formation and to even skin tone.
A ZO Rozatrol Serum Booster to help minimize the appearance of existing skin redness and dryness, prevent excess sebum build up and help reduce the appearance of blood vessels on the skin (telangiectasia).
Side Effects and Downtime
There are no side effects. There is no downtime other than a glow to the skin post treatment.
How do I know which treatment to have?
Dr Baines or Sue (Clinic Nurse) will discuss your skin care concerns with you and analyse your skin during your consultation. You can then choose which serum will be most appropriate for your needs.
How many treatments will I need?
The ultra-clean feeling, smooth results and hydrated effect will last for around 5-7 days post treatment. For the first couple of months, you may wish to have treatments weekly to bring your skin up to optimum condition. Once you have achieved this we usually recommend that you schedule a maintenance HydraFacial at least once a month. We have devised a payment plan for patients wishing to purchase treatment packages.
Aftercare
On the day of your facial we would not recommend that you exercise or use a sauna, hot tub or swim. We also advise against sun exposure and exfoliation for three days post treatment. You may apply make-up immediately afterwards, however for optimal results it is better to let the skin breathe for the rest of the day. Sue, the Clinic Nurse will devise a home care programme with you to optimize your skin health.
