Fine lines and wrinkles can be managed with a range of therapies, from topical creams, in-clinic treatments for skin resurfacing, to injectables.

Often a combination is advisable for best results. Your consultation will discuss all of these options. In the next section, we will focus on injectable treatments.

Muscle Relaxants

About Muscle Relaxants

The involuntary contraction of certain muscles can create expressions that don’t match our mood.
We can feel and look healthier when we are relaxed and the same is true for our facial muscles.

By using very small amounts of muscle relaxants it is possible to soften or remove fine lines while maintaining a very natural appearance around the brow, forehead and areas around the eyes.

Botulinum toxin has been used medically for over 30 years and has an incredible safety profile with highly predictable results.

Muscle Relaxants Treatments

All treatments are preceded by a consultation with either Dr Baines or Nurse Sue Baines and involve a thorough medical assessment and detailed discussion of treatment options.

Allow up to 1 hour for this initial consultation. There is a charge of £50 which is deductible from treatment costs if suitable to proceed.

Muscle relaxants are administered with very fine injections, with ice gently applied to the skin providing an anaesthetic effect. The procedure typically takes less than 5 minutes.

Follow-up Review

By 7 days, you should notice a reduction in muscle tone. A follow-up video appointment will be scheduled for 2 weeks, at which point the full effects of the muscle relaxant should be apparent. In some cases, additional treatment may be provided during this appointment to ensure the desired results are achieved, at no extra cost.

Brow

Brow lines typically appear as vertical lines between the eyebrows, often formed when frowning—an expression many people make unconsciously while speaking. At first, these lines are only visible when making certain facial expressions. Over time, however, a crease can develop that remains even when the face is at rest. Treatment with muscle relaxants or dermal fillers can help soften and eliminate existing lines, while also preventing the formation of deeper creases in the future. Additionally, this treatment can lift the inner brow, creating a subtly more refreshed and awake appearance.

Eyes

Creases around the eyes, often called laughter lines or crow’s feet, are typically visible when closing the eyes tightly. Initially, these lines only appear with facial expressions but may become more noticeable even when the face is relaxed over time. These lines can be effectively treated with muscle relaxants to soften or eliminate them. With repeated treatments, the development of deeper creases in this area can also be minimized.

Forehead

Forehead lines appear as horizontal creases, becoming noticeable when looking upwards. Initially, they are visible only during active facial expressions but may persist over time, even when the face is at rest. Treatment with muscle relaxants can help soften existing lines and reduce the likelihood of future creases forming in this area.

Medical and Cosmetic Treatments

Injectable therapies can significantly improve patients' quality of life and overall health. Offering significant medical benefits beyond their aesthetic applications, they play a valuable role in various therapeutic treatments.

Dermal fillers and biostimulants can help address tissue loss and scarring caused by trauma, surgery, or medical conditions, restoring function and structure.

Additionally, polynucleotides and other regenerative therapies support wound healing, improve skin barrier function, and enhance tissue repair, making them beneficial in dermatological and reconstructive medicine.

Various injectable therapies are available to enhance skin health, providing a range of benefits tailored to the specific needs identified during your consultation with Sue or Paul.

These include dermal fillers, which restore volume and smooth fine lines; biostimulants, which stimulate the body’s natural collagen production to enhance skin elasticity and firmness; and polynucleotides, which promote cellular regeneration and hydration.

Before and after treatment

The cheeks and under-eye areas are often the first to show signs of volume loss, typically becoming noticeable in the early to mid-30s. Looking at photos from 5–10 years ago, you may observe your cheeks appearing less full. Restoring mid-face volume is a natural and effective way to provide lift. Dermal fillers are placed deeply within the tissues, creating subtle projection and enhancing facial contours. Results are immediate, and most treatments require little to no downtime.

Nasolabial

The nasolabial folds, the creases running from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, can be softened significantly with fillers. To visualize this, gently place a finger on your cheekbone beneath the eye and lift the skin upwards and outwards—this movement mimics the effect of treatment, reducing the depth of these lines and creating a fresher, more youthful appearance.

Polynucleotides and Dermal Fillers for Tear Trough Rejuvenation

The tear trough area, located beneath the eyes, is a common concern for individuals seeking to address tired or aged appearances. This delicate region often develops hollowing, shadowing, or fine lines due to factors such as aging, genetics, or lifestyle. Polynucleotides and dermal fillers are advanced injectable therapies designed to rejuvenate and restore the under-eye area with natural, long-lasting results.

Polynucleotides for Skin Regeneration

Polynucleotides are an innovative solution for under-eye rejuvenation, promoting tissue regeneration and hydration at a cellular level. These injectable treatments work by stimulating fibroblast activity, enhancing collagen and elastin production, and improving microcirculation in the tear trough area. The result is improved skin quality, reduced fine lines, and a brighter, more refreshed appearance. Polynucleotides also help to strengthen the skin barrier, making them an excellent choice for thin or delicate under-eye skin.

Dermal Fillers for Volume Restoration

Dermal fillers, often composed of hyaluronic acid, are a highly effective option for addressing volume loss in the tear trough. They restore fullness to the hollowed area beneath the eyes, reducing the appearance of shadows and dark circles. By carefully placing the filler in precise locations, a smoother and more youthful contour is achieved, creating a brighter and well-rested look.

Combined Approach for Optimal Results

For comprehensive tear trough rejuvenation, polynucleotides and dermal fillers can be used together. While fillers address volume loss and structural concerns, polynucleotides enhance skin quality and hydration. This combination provides synergistic benefits, targeting both the underlying structure and the surface appearance for a more complete and natural-looking result.

The Treatment Process

Tear trough treatments are quick and minimally invasive, typically taking less than 30 minutes to perform. Most patients experience little to no downtime, with results that can last up to 12–18 months depending on the chosen treatment.

Lower Face, Marionette Lines & Chin

Creases from the edge of the mouth to the chin, sometimes referred to as marionette lines can be easily softened using dermal fillers.

Try for yourself in the mirror: the effect of treatment can to some extent be mimicked by placing a finger outside the skin crease on the cheek above the jaw line, then lifting the skin gently upwards and outwards until the line is removed to the desired amount.

Profhilo

Profhilo is a unique type of injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) designed specifically to address skin laxity and improve overall skin quality. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that target specific areas such as the cheeks or lips, Profhilo works to enhance skin texture and hydration uniformly across larger areas, including the face, neck, décolletage, and other regions.

What sets Profhilo apart is its ability to spread naturally through tissue planes, requiring fewer injection points compared to other treatments. This innovative property makes the procedure quick, comfortable, and minimally invasive. Additionally, the absence of downtime following the treatment makes it a convenient choice for those with busy lifestyles.

Profhilo delivers exceptional results on its own, providing a refreshed and youthful glow. It can also be combined with other aesthetic treatments for a more comprehensive approach to rejuvenation. Since it maintains the natural shape and contours of the face, it is an excellent option for individuals new to injectable treatments who want subtle yet effective improvements.

Sunekos

Sunekos offers a distinctive method of skin rejuvenation, working differently from hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.

Formulated with a blend of amino acids, it targets the skin’s extracellular matrix to naturally stimulate the production of elastin and collagen.

This process results in a subtle yet effective strengthening and tightening of the skin, without adding volume. It’s particularly suited for areas prone to water retention or where a natural look is preferred.

Sunekos can be used on the entire face to impart a revitalized, radiant glow and is especially effective for under-eye support where additional volume is not desired.

Downtime is typically just one day, providing a convenient and natural way to improve skin health.

Polynucleotides - Philart & Plinest

Polynucleotide treatments offer a groundbreaking approach to skin rejuvenation and repair by leveraging the power of DNA fragments to enhance cellular regeneration. These treatments work by stimulating collagen production, improving skin elasticity, and boosting hydration, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. Polynucleotides also promote microcirculation and strengthen the skin barrier, making them an excellent choice for addressing concerns such as fine lines, dullness, and sun damage. Suitable for use on the face, neck, and other delicate areas, polynucleotide treatments are minimally invasive, with little to no downtime, making them an ideal solution for those seeking natural and effective skin rejuvenation.
